The 8 Signs of Tyranny. Are We Close?

By Tim Gamble

Tyranny can manifest in various forms and signs. These signs can vary depending on the context and type of tyranny. However, some common indicators of tyranny include:
  1. Suppression of free speech and dissent: Although Free Speech is technically still the law of the land in America, many politicians such as Hillary Clinton, Gavin Newsome, Tim Walz and Kamala Harris are calling for restrictions on speech in the name of stopping "hate" and "misinformation." Of course, that begs the question who decides what is hate and what is misinformation. Too often it is defined by political correctness and ideology. Tools of suppression range from deplatforming, doxing and cancel culture, to the weaponization of government agencies against dissenters or anyone else not towing the line when it comes to the approved narrative.
  2. Censorship and propaganda: Tyrants use censorship and propaganda to control the narrative, manipulate public opinion, and maintain their hold on power. The political elites, the deep state, the news media, academia, and much of Big Tech have combined in recent years to form one huge censorship and propaganda machine.
  3. Concentration of power: Tyrannical governments tend to consolidate power in their hands. They have the need to control everything. If they can't control something, they seek to destroy it. Notice the calls in recent years to water-down or otherwise "reform" the Supreme Court. Notice the desire to fast track citizenship (and voting rights) for tens-of-millions of illegals.
  4. Surveillance and control: Tyrannical regimes often engage in widespread surveillance, monitoring citizens' communications and activities to maintain control and suppress dissent. The tool being used to accomplish this in our modern society is Technocracy (link to my article).
  5. Economic instability: Tyrannical governments may engage in policies that lead to economic instability. Notice the high inflation, high national debt, weak dollar, and ongoing supply chain problems facing the USA, all a direct result of government policies.
  6. Arrests and disappearances: Under tyranny, citizens can be arrested or simply disappear without due process, often for political reasons, criticizing the regime, or denying the approved narrative. It could be argued that the treatment of those attending the Jan. 6 rally in DC marks the start of this process in the USA, with many held without bail, placed in solitary confinement, and even denied medical care.
  7. Persecution of minorities: Tyrants often target minorities, religious groups, or political opponents for various forms of persecution. Currently in the USA, political opponents of the current regime are being targeted through lawfare and the weaponization of various government agencies. Conservatives, Trump supporters and traditional Christians are constantly being vilified in the press and by politicians, accused of everything from violence to racism.
  8. Disregard for human rights: Tyrannical regimes often commit human rights abuses, including torture and murder. Again, notice the solitary confinement, isolation, and even denial of medical care being suffered by many of those arrested for Jan. 6. Also, notice the calls, many by politicians and deep state bureaucrats, for folks refusing the covid vaccine to face reeducation camps, prison time, and even to be denied life-saving medical care. There are numerous examples of patients being denied organ transplants because they refused to take the vaccine.
I will leave it up to the reader to think about these things and to decide for yourself how close to tyranny we actually are.
