Agrarianism – Taking Back the Land

By Cade Shadowlight (Tim Gamble)
     Between Shadows and Light.

I’m done with corporations owning our food - family farms are my fix, rooted in dirt and defiance. The solution to our mess - crumbling supply chains, unhealthy foods, trashed environment - isn’t more top-down schemes. It’s the old paths: self-reliance and local economies built around agrarian communities.

The Bible calls it tending the Earth; I call it survival. You call it what you want - it's still the way forward.

Agrarianism puts agriculture at the heart of society, run by small growers, not suits in skyscrapers. Big Ag’s the enemy - Monsanto locks up 90% of our seeds, Tyson turns land into sludge pits, multinationals ship apples from Chile while local orchards rot. They don’t feed us; they feed their profits, chaining farmers to debt and pumping out 30% of the world’s greenhouse gases - small farms and local supply chains cuts that with less trucking, more carbon locked in healthy soils.

My grandfather worked his land because it was his - freedom and responsibility, not corporate collars or government masters, drove him. Genesis 2:15 says work it and guard it, not sell it off. Strip the verse, and it’s still truth: land owned by people, not foreign governments or mega-corporations, growing food for neighbors, not shareholders. Land’s for people, not China’s trillions or BlackRock’s portfolios - small farms make it ours. This isn’t preacher-talk or stained-glass rules - the Bible I read is about dirt under nails, not dollars in plates.

It’s self-reliance over handouts, nature over concrete, community over cubicles. If every county fed itself, we’d gut the corporate beast - no bureaucracy, just hard work. This isn’t nostalgia; it’s rebellion. Buy from the guy down the road. Plant a row of beans. Teach your kids to dig. That’s agrarianism - taking it back, farm by farm. Faith or not, the fight’s the same: Big Ag’s done, small farms are the future. More’s coming - land, carbon, survival - I’ll unpack it soon.
