• They’re Human, Too: Scientists, doctors, educators, politicians, and business leaders aren’t infallible. They make mistakes, just like us. Their biases, fears, or ambitions—whether it’s career goals, office politics, or pressure from peers, bosses, or funding—can cloud their judgment.
• Credentials Don’t Guarantee Truth: A Ph.D., board certification, or formal title doesn’t make someone right. Expertise is often narrow, “a mile deep but an inch wide.” They may master their field but miss the big picture, overlooking unintended consequences of their “solutions.”
• Influences Run Deep: Money, politics, and ideology can sway even the most credentialed. Experts aren’t immune to external pressures that shape their decisions or advice.

Think for Yourself: Weigh the words of experts and authorities carefully. Question their motives, consider the broader context, and decide for yourself what makes sense. In a world of uncertainty, your ability to think critically is your greatest survival tool.
