The avian flu has been detected in over 100 commercial flocks in 23 states in the past 30 days. The avian flu is also spreading in Canada and several European countries, as well as being detected in Asia and South America.
For more information: See the article The avian flu virus is rapidly spreading through commercial flocks in the U.S. on the Food Safety News website.
My advice: Don't panic. Just be aware, and continue to work your preparedness plan (you do have one, right?), which should include stocking up food, water, and other supplies. Don't expect sharp increases in prices or shortages immediately, as it typically takes weeks to months for such problems to be reflected in the system.
